Every first Tuesday, we bring you a special poet to lead a generative workshop. After the workshop, our guest poet gives a private reading of their own work. In March we are honored to have John Pinkham lead a workshop on ekphrasis!
Workshop Description: Ekphrasis is known as description used a rhetorical device. Ekphrasis poetry often uses a piece of art—visual, performance, etc—for poetic inspiration. This Tuesday, John Pinkham will lead a workshop on writing ekphrasis poetry and how you can add it to your poetic toolkit!
John Pinkham is a spoken word poet from Boston. He represented Slam Free or Die (NH) at the 2017 National Poetry Slam in Denver, and finished as a semi-finalist at the 2018 National Poetry Slam in Chicago as a member of the Boston Poetry Slam Team. He is a social worker, ofttimes bartender, and generally exhausted. Drawing inspiration from his family’s Boston Italian roots, his poems can be paired with a large iced regular from Dunkin Donuts and a Pizzelle cookie.
Bring a notebook/writing utensil or a laptop. We’ll be writing!
